Frequently Asked Questions
What is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative Medicine (IM) considers the unique individual by examining biochemical individuality and explores the predisposing factors, genetics, epigenetics, triggers and mediators of disease. IM views organ systems as interconnected and adopts a holistic approach to create a healing environment that restores vitality, not merely the absence of disease.
Benefits of Integrative Medicine:
Holistic Approach: Addresses the root causes of health issues, not just symptoms.
Personalized Care: Tailored treatments that fit individual needs and lifestyles.
Preventative Focus: Emphasizes prevention and healing rather than solely treatment.
Enhanced Well-being: Promotes overall wellness, including mental and emotional health.
How does Functional Integrative Medicine differ from Traditional Medicine?
Traditional medicine uses pharmaceuticals and surgery to cure disease as the endpoint. It is a body-centric model of care. Integrative Medicine uses holistic modalities to achieve cure, it focuses on the whole person, fosters healing and promotes balanced living. These processes occur in the mind and spirit. Ultimately, this approach delivers more complete wellness. Our medical team is well- trained in both approaches and we can therefore provide you with balanced and effective treatment to help you recover faster from illness.
Do you take insurance?
We do not bill insurance companies directly, however we can provide a superbill for you to submit for reimbursement depending on your coverage. We currently do not participate with Medicare or Medicaid.
Are lab fees included?
Dr. Naraine recommends testing based on individual needs after careful assessment and consideration. He will discuss up-front cost for functional lab tests and weigh the pros/cons of the test with you. He will also order standard lab panels which can be drawn at Quest/Labcorp and billed directly to your insurance company. It is your responsibility to know the coverage of your health insurance.
Can you be my Primary Care Provider?
As an Integrative Medicine Physician we do not replace your primary care provider or specialist. We work in combination with your healthcare team to bring a balanced approach to your overall treatment plan. Should you have an acute care need or a medical emergency you should seek care from your PCP or hospital.
Do you have a Cancellation Policy?
Yes, Due to the extended time these visits take and the preparation needed, we kindly request 48 hour notice to cancel.
